Respect In Sport Activity Leader Course

The Respect In Sport (RIS) - Activity Leader course is an on-line training course for coaches and sport leaders. It is designed as a tool to assist coaches in identifying and dealing with abuse, neglect, harassment, and bullying in sport. The on-line, self-guided course takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete and has been designed with flexibility in mind. Once started the course can be stopped, saved and resumed at your convenience.

RIS-Activity Leader certification is issued and valid for 5 years once the online course is completed.  RIS-Activity Leader certification is fully transferable to any other sports program (i.e. Calgary Minor Hockey, Calgary Minor Soccer) using the same RIS certification program.  If you already hold RIS-Activity Leader certification from another sport, please Register on the Ringette Calgary database by creating a new user and enter your certificate number in the appropriate field. Click “Check” and if the certificate number is valid the registration will automatically populate. Click “Submit” to complete Registration.
Please ensure that this is completed prior to the November 30th deadline and note that only another Activity Leader certificate number is valid - it can’t be a Respect in Sport Parent Program Certificate.

The cost of the program is $30.00 per team staff member and all team staff on your TRF must complete the course.
Payment must be made when you register for the course through the RIS website (see below).

Ringette Calgary is proud to be the second major Ringette Association in Canada to provide this training opportunity to our bench staff. Ringette Alberta and Ringette Canada are both monitoring the RIS program implementation in Calgary, prior to formulating a provincial/national launch of RIS - Activity Leader program.

For all Ringette Calgary teams, the Esso Golden Ring Committee has elected to sponsor this program using profits that our teams helped generate. A refund cheque for the cost of completing this course will be issued for each team (up to 3 team staff) provided they complete the course by the November 30 deadline.

The refund cheque will be issued to the head coach of each team in December and will be distributed with your Esso Golden Ring Raffle Tickets (or through your quadrant).

Please note, this requirement is for all RINGETTE CALGARY teams
and not for teams registered through CORA

Failure to complete the course on or by November 30 will result in the following:

  • Any team staff member not in compliance will automatically be suspended effective December 1, 2011 and shall remain suspended until they have completed the course.

  • In addition, effective December 1, 2011 any team with a team staff member who has not completed the course will forfeit all league games. The game(s) will be played but the team will not have the ability to acquire points for that game nor any subsequent league game until all the team staff have completed the course..

Respect in Sport for Ringette Calgary - Registration and Re-Access Information

Registration Information:
  • Once at the site, the default language is English.  Click the link "Francais" to convert registration to French
  • Select "Register a New User"
  • If you have previously certified in the Respect in Sport Activity Leader program, Respect in Soccer, SpeakOut Online, or Respect in School, enter your existing certification number in the box provided and select Check.  Once your profile has been found and loaded, complete the registration and select Submit.
  • If you have not certified in a Respect Group Inc. program previously, complete the displayed registration fields.  All fields marked with a red X are mandatory.
  • For Username and Password, you may select any entries you wish however spaces may not be included in the entries.  Respect Group Inc. recommends using your email address for the username as this is always unique to a single individual.  Please note these fields are case sensitive, and on re-entry, must be entered exactly as during registration.
  • You will be requested to select a Division and Team.  You may add other selections after registration by clicking the Profile button in the system and selecting Add New Groups at the bottom of the page.
  • After registration fields have been filled in, click Submit.  You will be directed to the program payment page.  Follow the indicated instructions.  To complete payment, you will be automatically redirected to the PayPal website where you may pay with credit cards or through e-cheques processed through your bank.  All payment processing is handled by PayPal.  Respect Group never sees or has access to credit card numbers or information.  After payment is complete, you will be redirected back into the program. 
  • Select the appropriate language button to access the program instructions and content.

Re-Access:

  • Return to the website address above (same address as for registration)
  • Enter your username and password in the selection boxes indicated (username and password are case sensitive)
  • Select "Login"
  • For Username/Password assistance, click on Forgot Username? or Forgot Password? on the login page

General Information:

  • Should you experience any challenges while taking Respect in Sport, numerous tools are available inside the program and before you login.  Inside the program, look for the Help button.  Prior to logging in you will also see buttons to retrieve usernames and passwords, and to look up your certificate number.
  • Respect Group Inc. programs make use of Pop-Up windows within the program. Please ensure Pop-Up blockers are turned off or, when prompted, set to allow pop-ups from the identified web address.
